Madame Morrible

WARNING! NEKKID DOLL BOOBIES!

I've been trying to get my mitts on Morrible since before Christmas.  I don't care much about the other Wicked dolls, or about Wicked.  But the folks politely referred to as "older" are rare in doll form.  When I saw Morrible reviewed on YouTube, I instantly added her to my wish list!

A friend in Pennsylvania took pity upon my quest and mailed her to me.  She was supposed to be here on the 15th but got here on the 20th, after a bizarre side trip right through Ohio and back.  Dumb post office.

Side Note: I had two empty roles for an Asian grandma when my Barbieville soap opera was a thing.

Discounting characters like Severus Snape, who were much younger than the actor who played him, I had five "older" folks.  Now I have six and the boys are outnumbered!

Here she is!  Her hair comb jumped right back off her head and vanished, but otherwise she's intact.  Her clothes will be put up with Albus and McG's robes.  She gonna get some civvies.

Closeup of that lovely face.  It's a good likeness of the actress, Michelle Yeoh.

I managed to get her out of the packaging without ruining the backdrop.

These boots are made for walkin'.  So are the knees.  Dolls in Jeanie Land must have working elbows and knees, with few exceptions. (Looking at you, Tris.) I keep a bin of donor bodies, usually from thrift stores and yard sales

I've been putting off McGee's boil wash (to straighten the updo) for almost as long as I've had her.  She joined Morrible.  I'm not very good at these - I'm always afraid of melting heads.

Susan B volunteered to do the same.  The historical Susan B. Anthony was in her fifties during the Suffragette Movement, but this doll looks way younger.  Maybe the Inspiring Women dolls are Barbie cosplaying?

Morrible is happy with her new friends.  Boiling water poured over the head is a great bonding experience, I guess.  I'll take their word for it.

Sunflower and Iris like their updos up.  I agree.  That hair was a big selling point for me on both of them.  And Sunflower had to raid the donor bin because she was a Fashionista!

I and Morrible both thank my friend for her generosity.

Rebuilding Begins

The Barbieville Business Owners Association is focusing on the members impacted worst by the flood.  Mei Chang has lost home, cafe, and husband.  Four Eaton his grandfather/business partner.  Iris Patrick her tailoring business. Whitney Darling's father owned WDLC, was lost in the flood, and she inherited.

Rose-Grace: This may be weird, but we've never been a normal town, have we?  Sulu suggested this meeting and has offered campsites on his property to anyone lost their home.  Most of the losses were homes, some residents are being housed in motels by insurance, but many are not.  If you know of anyone in need, please send them his way.

Dionne:  I can't pay near what you were making from the cafe, but Helena House needs kitchen staff.  Do you think you're up for supervising a bunch of kids as they learn basic cooking skills?  We can also offer room and board.

Mei: You can board all four of us?  We would only need two rooms - one for we girls and a smaller one for Qi - until I find a house. We won't need boarding permanently.

Dionne: Of course.  Now, let's talk about wages and benefits.

Pocahontas:  I was discussing you and Dawn with Tierra, my entertainment head.  We could use you for wardrobe on shows.  Tierra's got a lot of ideas.

Iris: It would just be me.  Dawn's moved on.

Pocahontas: Really?  Well, that's fine.  I really didn't know if I'd have enough work for both of you. We'll order the costumes premade and you'd just have to make alterations and mending.  Doesn't pay much, though.

Iris: Coby makes more than enough to support us.  My shop was more of a hobby.

Four:  I don't know if I can make it without Bapo.  I'm still so new at tattooing professionally.

Whitney:  At least you're trained.  What do I know about running a TV station?

Okoye: I can help you there, Miss Darling.  I'd like to buy you out.

Whitney: Who are you?

Four:  That's Okoye, the media mogul.  You just got your butt saved, my friend.

A man comes in while everyone is conferring.

Tony:  I'm Anthony Lucas, Rayshawn's brother.  I'll be handling matters for his family for now.  (To Rose-Grace) My brother speaks highly of this town and of the lovely mayor.  I just stopped in to introduce myself and let anyone who might be concerned know that Marty is in good hands.

After the meeting, Rose-Grace finds Agent Danvers in the parking lot.

Carol: We need to talk, ASAP, in a secure location.  The sabotage at the dam is way bigger than I thought.

Rose-Grace: Come to my office in the morning.

Sulu notices lights on in the greenhouse shop and investigates.

Sulu:  Mattie?!  What are you doing here?!

Mattie: I came home.  My place is here with my family.

Sulu: Umm... okay.  Can we talk about that hair?

So It Begins

Halfsies Sewing and Alterations, late afternoon.

Iris:  Taylor, what do you think?  Should we have a display of accessories for sale?  Or just focus on the clothing itself?

Taylor: It's not a bad idea.  Make a little extra money with inexpensive things, but not have a full-on jewelry depart -- ow!

Iris: What is it? Are you okay?

Taylor: Yeah, just a little twinge here, in my side.  Comes and goes.

Dawn: Cramps?  Is it that time of the month?

Taylor: I wish.  Mom says I'm a late bloomer.  If I've not started by my sixteenth birthday, I'm going to the doctor.  (rubs the spot)  This doesn't feel like a muscle cramp, anyway.

Dawn:  Remember the days when we wished for that, Iris?

Iris: I didn't start til eighth grade and thought there was something seriously wrong with me.

Taylor (laughs):  I've kept Mom busy with all the old wives' tales I've fallen for. Anyway... I'll get back to organizing the fabric in the work area.

Dawn: Customers.  Did we have anyone picking up an order today?

Iris: No.  I hope it's not that Jackson woman again.  She drives me nuts.

Tierra (confused): We were told this is a boutique?

Seven: I told you it wasn't.  (To Dawn and Iris) The airport lost our luggage.  We just need a couple changes of clothes, to get us through til the luggage is found.

Iris: Well, we do have a few pieces that our clients rejected.  They're quality work.  (uses intercom to ask Taylor to bring in the rejects)  Come to think of it, Dawn, we could display the rejects along with accessories.

Iris: Might want to call them something besides rejects if we do that.

Tierra: We met on the plane.  We're both here for Mrs. Moneybags.  I always made fun of the women on those shows, and look at me now.

Iris: It's not typical, from what I hear.  More old fashioned helpmeet stuff, less champagne and caviar.  He's redoing The Point, and from what I've seen of that place, it's not going to be easy.

Seven:  That's what got my attention.  Part of the application packet focused on interior design and landscaping.  Are either of you ladies participating?

Iris: I'm happily married.

Dawn: I've met Rayshawn.  He's not my type. Besides, it'd be hard to run this place and The Point.

Seven: Oh, you have?  What's he like?  What about his children?

Iris: I'm going to go see what's keeping Taylor.

Iris finds Taylor on the floor, gripping her belly and whimpering.

Iris (shouting):  Call an ambulance!  Call Taylor's parents!  Something's wrong with her!

A Reunion (Or Two)

Sunburst.  Zenobia hurries in after her meeting with the lawyer.

Iris: Casey, stop playing on your phone and eat.

Casey: I'll have plenty of time to eat when Dawn gets here.  You two are gonna go blah-blah-blah til bedtime.

Iris: We aren't going to be here that long.  We're going to the shop and make plans.

Zenobia: Welcome to Sunburst!  I'm Zenobia.

Dawn: I'm looking for... oh, there she is.  (waves to Iris)  I'll just have some coffee, please.

Zenobia: Cream and sugar?

Dawn: No.  Just strong black coffee.

Zenobia: It'll be a few minutes for the coffee.  I started a fresh pot.

Dawn: Excellent.  I'll also have this taco thing Iris is eating.  (Stops Zenobia when she moves away.) I hate to sound like some kind of stalker, but who is that woman over there?  In the wheelchair? She looks very familiar.

Zenobia: That's Candy Pike.  She's a pretty well known photojournalist, so you've probably seen her work, but it's odd that...

Dawn (excited): Was her maiden name Barr? And no, I'm not being a smartass.  I actually once knew a girl named Candy Barr. We were in a couple of foster homes together.

Zenobia: I believe it was.  I can ask her, she won't mind.  I'm friends with her sons.

Dawn: Please do. My name's Dawn Lung.

Zenobia: This is going to sound really weird.

Candy (laughs): Most of the things you say are weird, Zenobia, but that's why I like you. What's up?

Zenobia: The lady sitting with Iris Patrick?  She thinks you two were in a foster home together as kids.  Her name's Dawn Lung.

Candy (thinks for a bit): There was a Dawn.  We ended up in the same home twice, once when I was ten or so and then when I was a teenager. (scrutinizes Dawn from across the room, then smiles broadly)  That is her!

Candy:  It's me, Dawn!  (To Zenobia) Oh, I hate this wheelchair.  Help me get over there.

Zenobia: I have to put in her order and get her coffee.  I'll ask if they mind you joining them.

Candy: Oh, yeah, I guess I shouldn't just horn in on them.
